Description

PU coatings are applied directly to slings. The material and properties correspond to those of the PU protective sleeves. This ensures maximum safety when lifting goods. The coating can be applied to all belt widths up to 300 mm. It can be coated on one side as well as on both sides. To obtain good cut protection, the coating thickness should not be less than 5 mm. An advantage of the fixed coating is that it is not possible to use the belt without protection. The material is the same high-quality PU elastomer that is used for the protective sleeves. It is also possible to protect the sensitive loop or hook area. In the case of loop belts, for example, the coating can be applied right up to the reinforcing fabric.

The following should be noted:

Due to the firm connection of the PU layer with the fabric, no relative movement between the protective layer and the belt can take place (which is given when PU protective sleeves are used). The consequence is that adjustment thrusts can occur during the lifting process (the sharp-edged load "jams" in the polyurethane and slides uncontrollably into another position). Very high forces occur during this "jerking" process. The load must therefore be applied very carefully. Particularly in the case of heavily impregnated fabrics, it can happen that the PU detaches from the backing material. This effect occurs under load, stretching the polyester belt. The different stretching behavior of PU and fabric can lead to partial detachment in rare cases. A remedy is offered by white lifting belts that are only heat-set, but not impregnated.

It should not go unmentioned that a belt coated on both sides has excellent protection against the penetration of liquids. The polyurethane also has a strong anti-slip effect (e.g. transport of smooth pipes etc.). It is possible for special applications to further increase this slip resistance (application of rubber granules or wood chips, roughening of the surface, foaming of the surface).
