Chain hoists: powerful and versatile

Electric chain hoists are the first choice when heavy loads have to be lifted regularly, precisely and with little effort. Whether in production, mechanical engineering or workshops, they are electrically driven and allow precise load control at the push of a button. Our available load capacities range from 125 kg up to 15,000 kg, offering a suitable solution for every requirement.

Thanks to their lightweight construction, our chain hoists can be installed quickly and are ready for use immediately. The standard direct control with emergency stop ensures simple, safe operation and meets high occupational safety requirements. The integrated slip clutch reliably protects against overload, while the supplied chain containers ensure clean chain guidance. With protection class IP 55 (Delta DEH, DMH, SG.DTS and SG.DMS as well as Demag and ABUS) or IP 54 (Delta US and battery chain hoist) and insulation class F, our chain hoists meet common industrial standards. The classification according to FEM 1Am (M4) stands for high operating cycles and a long service life in commercial use.

Battery chain hoist vs. electric chain hoist: flexibility meets continuous performance

Battery-powered chain hoists offer a high degree of mobility and independence from stationary power sources. They are particularly suitable for temporary jobs, outdoor assembly work or hard-to-reach locations. With a battery life of 25 minutes at full load, they are a reliable solution for short-term lifting operations – ideal for construction sites, outdoor areas or changing locations.

In contrast, classic electric chain hoists are designed for stationary continuous use. They offer higher load capacities and constant lifting speeds and are ideal for continuous industrial operation. With protection classes such as IP 55, robust housings and comprehensive safety functions such as a slip clutch and emergency stop switch, they meet high requirements for reliability and safety.

Battery chain hoist:

  • Advantages: mobility, quickly ready for use, no external power source required

  • Applications: outdoor assembly work, temporary construction sites, hard-to-reach locations

Electric chain hoist:

  • Advantages: higher load capacity, constant performance, comprehensive safety functions

  • Applications: continuous industrial operation, workshops, production lines

Frequently asked questions about chain hoists

A chain hoist is a hoist that uses a load chain to lift, lower and position heavy loads in a controlled manner. It is used in industry, workshops and on construction sites, for example for lifting machine parts or positioning heavy components.

A chain hoist uses a load chain as its lifting medium, whereas a rope winch works with a wire rope and a pulley block works mechanically via deflection pulleys. Chain hoists are particularly suitable for compact, vertical lifting operations with high repeat accuracy; for other requirements, we also offer rope winches and pulley blocks.

That depends on the weight of the load to be lifted: our range covers load capacities from 125 kg to 15,000 kg. As a rule of thumb, the selected load capacity should cover the maximum peak load including a safety margin.

Battery chain hoists offer a high degree of mobility for temporary jobs and hard-to-reach locations, with a battery life of around 25 minutes at full load. Electric chain hoists are designed for stationary continuous use with a constant lifting speed and are better suited to continuous industrial operation.

We recommend checking chain hoists for externally visible damage, such as deformed or cracked chain links, before each use. Before each use, please also observe the manufacturer’s instructions in the operating manual. In addition, we recommend having chain hoists inspected by a competent person at least once a year.
